Article 25 Foundation was created out of love for all people, especially those living with dementia. The name of the foundation is inspired by Article 25 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. This article states that everyone, regardless of limitations, has the right to a certain quality of life: an adequate standard of living.
That is why our mission is to improve the quality of life of people touched by dementia worldwide. We do this by initiating dialogue, breaking down barriers and working together on initiatives that really make a difference. In this way, we want to create a society in which people with dementia are not excluded or locked up in closed wards, but remain a full part of our society.
Teun Toebes is co-founder of Article 25 Foundation and, after five full years as its chair, he is now continuing this mission in his role as a humanitarian activist.
Impact & Results
1 - World premiere of Human Forever at the Royal Theatre Tuschinski with several ministers and many prominent figures from politics, media, healthcare and the arts.
2 - Home Forever: intensive collaborations with nursing homes to put vision and doing things differently into practice and to realise systemic change in organisations.
3 - From Open Doors to Living in Freedom: a joint movement with the Health and Youth Care Inspectorate in which we leave the closed ward behind and focus on freedom in a good life with dementia.
